OF THE SCORE

4.16.98

     If I were to be keeping a score I'd say it's L.A.-- 4, T. and I -- 0.

     We've been robbed.

Well, some loser S.O.B. broke into T.s car while we were blissfully sleeping Tuesday night and stole the face off of his CD player and all of his CDs which he had lovingly organized in a case. I lost some of my prized CDs as well -- my Swinging' Tunes collections my friend Bob gave me for my birthday last year, the Dead Presidents soundtrack (infinitely better than the movie), and my favorite CD from my Rhino Records Beat Generation Box Set (now I only have one of the three left since another was taken from me a year ago). I'm sure there were a few others that I'll discover later.

     It just sucks.

Course, we can be somewhat comforted by the thought that we weren't the only ones. Almost everyone in our apartment complex had their cars broken into that night and one poor lady had her window smashed. The apartment building has been going through renovations with the grand goal of securing the parking area. Unfortunately, they had not yet gotten to the automatic gate but had gotten to closing off the courtyard which, I fear, gave the robber/bastards more privacy.

     T. and I have so few nice possessions and it really stinks to have one stolen. I suspect that other people in our complex have even fewer nice possessions so it really stinks for them. It's only a matter of time, I suppose, before someone breaks into the apartment and takes my computer. That will be a sad day indeed.

My computer is probably not that cool to the true tech geek but for me it's like an easy chair. Well, not quite like that but like a favorite spot. I have a lot of cool programs that are on it and so much stuff placed exactly where I want it. I have some wonderful shareware programs and tons of web color references and way too many graphics. If I lost it I'd have to start all over. *sniff*

Have you hugged your computer today?
