OF BIG BOATS
1.15.00 Last night we went to my company's "holiday" party/birthday party. I think the company is seven years old though I'm not sure. Our actual Christmas party back in December was really lame. It was a potluck in the conference room during business hours. For gifts from the company we all got chocolate bars. Which is all fine and dandy but decidedly lame. However, I think they made up for it last night. We went on a Willamette River Dinner Cruise on some sternwheeler whose name I can't remember. The food was adequate. The drinks were free. We got to stand on the deck in the freezing cold and watch as we passed under bridges and went all around these big ships, some of which were dry-docked. Big boats. Really big boats. Wowie. The bar was open but I didn't get tanked. It was more amusing to see who would get sloppy around me. I smoked a few cigarrettes and tried to remember not to flick them into the Willamette. I had a few great conversations and some laughs. I wore the dress that I wore to the last two weddings. I think that's about all the mileage I'm going to get out of that dress. Afterwards, we were stuck in the parking lot by my office because someone had come by and let the air out of one of our tires. It wasn't just us, either. They must've nailed at least twenty cars in two lots. Of all the dumb things I did to entertain myself as a teenager I was never that bored. æ |
