low Last week I was a powerhouse of activity. I got many things accomplished. I launched another site and did much rushing around and doing. This week? What is today? Friday? Damn. And, I'm very blue. 10.9.2002

2 minor embarassing confessions 1. Sometimes, when I go for a healthful walk around the neighborhood, I see cats out sitting on front steps or hanging out in windows and sometimes they look at me and sometimes in a sort of inquisitive manner and so I wave at them. Occasionally, I wave to cats. (Don't worry, occasionally I wave to dogs, too.) 2. I dislike my computer making sounds at me. I don't like warning beeps or bloops or any kind of "ta-daaa!" on boot up or shut down. So, I usually end up setting up some preferences which turn off all sounds. I'm on a Windows machine so this isn't always easy to do. In any case, I went through and quieted all that stuff some weeks ago but yesterday I went hunting for a sound and I couldn't find it. I couldn't turn it back on again. It's the only thing that makes balancing my checking account and paying bills any fun at all. In Quicken, when I enter something into the register it goes: "Cha-ching!" I like it. I'll turn on my speakers when I open Quicken so I can hear that "Cha-ching!" But, sadly, the sound is lost. Or rather, I know where it is but Quicken doesn't. What a bummer. |
