Great Blue Whale Woke this morning and peaked out with one eye from under the covers. I had a sudden image of a Great Blue Whale coming to the surface, having a roll-over and a peak at what lay beyond. Finding the world rather cold and too bright, I rolled back under the covers and slumbered a while longer. Granted, the dark blue duvet covering the world's most wonderful down comforter lends itself nicely to this scenario. + + + Back from Christmas in DC. I had a great night of sleep last night. The night before, we got in at midnight and the next morning I woke with a splitting and painful headache that lasted until 2 in the afternoon. Felt like I'd be out drinking for six nights. It's good to be back. A week with the folks is sometimes a long week. It was good though, in the grand scheme of things, to touch base and share some home-cooked meals. I got some wonderful Christmas gifts. The best gift ever ever ever, in fact, from my sweetheart. He managed to write a Christmas story, get it illustrated by a number of our friends and my father and then get it bound and printed. It's absolutely adorable and just the most amazing thing. I can't think about it without having to catch my breath. + + + In other news, my corpse went live while I was gone. I signed up to do it after I followed a link from Heather Champ's Harrumph. We were doing versions of the corpse idea in one of my classes at the time and since those corpses sucked so bad I thought I'd try this one. I was pretty pleased to get the "head" to start with. However, I think that one as a whole is pretty poor. Luck of the draw, I guess. I have another corpse coming up sometime in the near future where I did the second panel. It's definitely more difficult to start up where someone left off. I was not altogether pleased with what I sent in on the second one. Actually, I was pretty pissed as the person before me included a Homer Simpson in his. I could tell from the bottom piece I got. I tried to do something with it but I was somewhat irked to have to work with that. We'll see how it turns out. |
