Crabbin'

T. and I got a late start to join his company out at the coast for a day of crabbing. We had the alarm set early enough but it took more than a few snoozes to properly get out of bed. We probably left the house around 7 and needed to be out there by 8:30. Of course, we had to stop and snag some breakfast and then we had to stop for gas. And then we missed the turn-off from 26 onto 6 and out to Tillamook. From that turn-off it's about equidistant to Canon Beach and Tillamook. However, if you get all the way out to Canon Beach, it takes another 45 minutes south on 101 to get to Tillamook and our destination was actually Netarts, a few miles further south.

We got there at around 10.

It didn't seem to make much of a difference as the CEO kindly puttered to the edge of the bay and picked us up. He then ferried us out to his brother-in-law's boat and we spent the morning with him tooling around and checking traps.

It was a great day, overcast with bits of sunshine and a constant wispy fog rolling in and out of the bay. It was cold at points but not too bad at all. We ended up netting the second largest crab of the morning with his shell about 7 and a quarter inches across. I grabbed that sucker (I think a Dungeness) out of the net and he was very heavy and very angry with some serious claw action going on.

After lunch we headed back to Portland. We did not take crab with us. Perhaps next year.

+ + +

In the evening, we went over to Laurie's with some other folks and T.'s sister and her boyfriend who are now here to stay. I think everybody had a great time and it was all very casual and easy. Above all, I seriously haven't laughed that hard in a very long time.

Marty

I love Marty.

I love Marty and I think he loves me.

I called Marty and he was there. I had questions and he answered them.

There were some difficult issues. Issues that he couldn't solve. That's okay though. He gave me some ideas. He gave me some clues. He sounded very apologetic.

He warned me about obstacles that would be forthcoming. I thanked him for it. That's all I ask for, anyway. You don't have to be a superhero; you just have to be honest.

We had a few laughs. The kind of laughs you don't always have with a guy like Marty.

He gave me his phone number. He gave me his direct line. I think that speaks a lot about our relationship.

Marty is a good guy.

Marty is a customer service representative for Qwest. I love him.

MSN Tech Support

Recently had a ridiculous experience with MSN tech support. I've recounted it on the front page of my site. Highlights include the recommendation to download 'Flask' software, the reading comprehension skills of my tech support agent and his absolute refusal to give me real information when directly asked. Amazing.

Please read it for a laugh.
