OF RESOLUTIONS

12.31.98

I am apparently number 21. Yes, 21 in a long string of people to have met the Mighty Kymm. I think 21 is a good number. I'm amazed that she's met so many people from the online world. She's only number 3 for me.

She's an L.A. native and is out for the holidays to visit mum. How sweet. I drove out to her place in Hollywood (which is really way out there) and we went to Universal City Walk. We wandered around and then ate at the Hard Rock Cafe because... well... why not? She's a great conversationalist and we talked and laughed non-stop. We both had our cameras and talked a bit about photography and snow and weddings (all related).

I think she thought I was young. She made several references to my age and made fun of my use of the word 'dude' in recounting a tale. In that tale I quoted T. as using the word 'dude' and she said, "Do you guys really use the word dude?" I guess that we do. It's all in slight jest of course. 'Dude' adds a touch of the surreal, a little kitsch. Or maybe it's just ingrained in my mind from watching Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure one too many times in college. (Those of you in the know will know exactly what I'm talking about.)

Confidential to Kymm: that's pitbull. P-I-T-B-U-L-L. I'm pretty certain that I could kick Beth's ass.

I'm making a few New Year's resolutions. I want to get a budget going for our little family. We need to save money and it's just not happening right now. God forbid we should start making more money because then we'd be really screwed. Right now it's pretty easy to keep an eye on our meager finances.

I want to get to the gym and work out at least twice a week. Three times a week is my actual goal but I don't want to beat myself up about it. I could kick my own ass around the block and it still wouldn't make me want to go to the gym. I would like to lose some weight but I'm not going to set any goal for that. Concentrating on actual pounds seems a little overwrought for me.

I need to set up some sort of plan of action for getting resumes sent out. I want to look in Seattle and Portland primarily for a new job. The goal is to get back to the Pacific Northwest. There are still plenty of things that I need to do in L.A., though. I need to go to Mann's Chinese Theatre. I need to do a studio tour and see a taping of a teevee show. I need to go scuba diving out in the Channel Islands and T. and I need to take a trip down to Mexico. Then we'll leave.

I can't think of anything else right now and we need to get out to our New Years Eve party. See you in '99.
