OF LAUNDRY LISTS
10.23.99 This morning T. and I went test-driving. He has already visited several dealerships. So, it was my turn. I was a little nervous since I've never been car shopping before. The last time I was anywhere near that activity was when I was 8 and we lived in Germany and went to the Mercedes factory to custom order a car. My parents still have that car. My little brother may be driving it now and since we got it before he was born that means that the car is roughly 17 years old. Time flies. To make a short story long, I drove two cars without major event and we decided to buy neither of them. I liked the cars but I just wasn't jumping up and down in excitement. For the kind of money it takes to get a decent car, I better love it if I'm going in debt for it. We drove the Nissan Xterra and the Subaru Outback. The Xterra was more fun but the Outback felt like it had some longevity to it. Both of them could be had for around the 24k mark. In our world, that's a lot of cash. So, back to the drawing board and the classifieds for a good deal. T. is bummed but I think he'll survive.
After that, we drove downtown to meet some friends for lunch. We waited at the Red Starr in the 5th Avenue Suites Hotel for 45 minutes without seeing anyone. Since things were sort of up in the air, I assumed that the get together just didn't happen. The story is that they decided to change their plans and meet elsewhere. To their credit, they called me to tell me this but I had already left for the morning. However, waiting an hour before they meet to change plans is really lame. And the bottom line is is that they all got together and whether they meant to or not, I got ditched. Wheee. Instead, we ate at Good Dog/Bad Dog which I first went to with Vicki Jean of Chez XX several weeks ago. That time I had the Bratwurst but this time I went with the Coney Island Chilli Dog which was grossly delicious. Of course, I was blessed with Chili burps for the rest of the afternoon. Brap. Then we hoofed it down to my office where I snagged a departed colleague's nice desk and swapped it with my crappy one. I also tried to fix some of my computer problems and made things worse, I'm sure. Afterwards, we drove over to Urban Outfitters in Northwest and joined the throngs of Saturday afternoon consumers. We bought two lamps for our bedside tables and a wolf mask for my Halloween costume. Not that I need a costume. It was just too cool not to buy. Then I came home to find nasty email in my Inbox from this crazy girl over at Webgrrls L.A. Nothing beats dealing with senseless bitches with control complexes via email. It made me feel sick to my stomach. Then I foolishly sent an email to a fellow journaller asking what I hoped wouldn't be a rude question. Turns out it was. So, I took that opportunity to turn off my computer and go to dinner. Now, I'm going back and forth from installing software and downloading programs onto my new computer and writing this on the old one. It's not as efficient as it sounds. æ |
