OF HOT, HOT, HOT!

Trying. Trying. Trying. To write something. I need to write because I need to capture the last few days. Of course, it's when I'm least busy that it's "convenient" to write... or when I'm procrastinating. When I'm tired from running around 24-7, no matter how exciting things may be, I don't feel like sitting down to the quiet contemplation that suits me here.

    But first, one more beer...

    Oof.

So, the last few days have been a flurry of activity. I lined up an honest-to-God job interview on Tuesday. It's with yet another design company in town. The position is something which I feel I'm slightly over-qualified for and it will probably mean a cut in my desired salary but I'm willing to take that chance. I need to get my foot in the door somewhere and do what it takes to make myself and whatever company I join successful. The guy that I spoke with there left a really good impression on me. I hope I did the same.

That afternoon, I interviewed for a contract and got it. It's very short term and should be going "live" next Wednesday. When I got home the temp agency called with a two-day contract at the first company I temped at here, Hanlon Brown. Then I checked my email and the guy I interviewed with for the real job wanted to schedule a second interview for tomorrow, Thursday. D'oh!

He was very kind and has agreed to push it till Monday. The job sounds like it's contract as well which isn't that cool but it could keep me busy from "three to six months." Doesn't anybody want to hire in this industry? Don't answer that.

This afternoon I got another email from the temp agency for a "comp" design project including some Flash work. I replied that I couldn't even think about it right now and that I'd get back to her tomorrow. Truth is, I can't give a definite answer until Monday. And then... (yes, there's more) I got an email from a very hot company in town that liked my portfolio and would like to take to me about — you guessed it — more contract work.

D-amn. I'm so hot my blood is boiling. Step back. I am on fire.

Sorry, but I must celebrate a little bit. The L.A. scene was so hard on me that I'm just eating up all this positive feedback. Is it a different scene altogether or is it just that I now have more experience? It's probably a combination of both.
