9 VOLT MILE
4.25.99 It looks very Oregon outside today. It's raining. It's a rain that is peculiar to this part of the country. At any point in the day you can look outside and see the grey sky and the wet ground but at no time remember actual rain falling. I've been listening to this one radio station almost non-stop since moving here. It's a public jazz station at 89.1 and they play jazz, blues, swing and all sorts of good stuff. I've been listening to it since I got up this morning. Unfortunately, they're doing a pledge drive. So, that means really great songs separated by five minutes of grovelling. Aside from the grovelling, it really fits my mood.
T. just got home from another day on the battlefields of lacrosse. His team was in a lacrosse tournament sponsored by Portland Brewing. They had three games yesterday and only one today. Yesterday was beautiful and sunny. 80 degree weather and nary a cloud in sight. They lost all of their games and I got a tan. It was nice to just sit in the sun. In the evening we went out to see a band that T.'s cousin used to manage. The band is 9 Volt Mile and they were pretty good. I had to drag T. out there as he was really tired but he ended up having a good time and we didn't stay too late. The venue was the Mt. Tabor Theatre and Pub on 45th and Hawthorne a huge space but badly decorated. The crowd was remarkably preppie for a place that has drum circles on Sundays. Run, don't walk, from the Gap invasion.
And, now, I must confess, I'm too lazy to write one word more. I did create an ABOUT page today, so go read that. æ |
