...Liquid Kitty

This is a review from the Calendar Live section of the online L.A. Times. You can read it on their site or read it here.

The name may seem somewhat scandalous, but calm down, boys -- the Liquid Kitty is no strip joint. Nor is it very "underground," despite its unmarked entrance (a plain neon martini is your only beacon to the door). On most nights, you'll find a relatively mainstream and friendly middle to late 20s crowd spending the earnings from their first salaried jobs on $6 drinks. These drinks have funky names like Black Cat Cocktail (Stoli Oranj & Creme de Cacao) and The Magic Christian (Absolut Kurant, triple sec and lime juice).

Sparse lighting and stiff drinks make this somewhat of a pick-up joint, and you're as likely to run into couples making out near the bathroom as you are to field the question "So, are you seeing anyone?" at some point in the evening. Nevertheless, this seems to be one of the most welcoming and interesting bars in the area and it's worth checking out.-- Kathryn Farr
