OF THE HILLS ARE ALIVE

5.26.98

L.A. is blooming. Who knew? Who knew there would be flowers? My favorites right now are the red and purple trees. The red trees are kind of short and the crown (? whatever you call where the leaves are) is really rounded and covered in these pinecone-shaped soft, red blooms. The purple trees are much larger and covered in smaller, lavender flowers. If you're lucky you'll go down a side street lined with these trees and they create a canopy of purple haze.

Available for closer inspection are some bushes sporting small flowers of the "hunter orange" color. These are very bright and I might steal some from our neighbors. I'll wear them around the city so that I won't be mistaken for somebody that others want to kill.

I had to stick around the house today so that T. and I could pick up his car. It's nice to have his car in the shop once in awhile. I've also got a dentist appointment this afternoon. I'm so irritated about it. I have two things I need done. I have to get my teeth cleaned and a cavity filled. I also need to talk to them about getting one of my teeth whitened. But noooooo... they want to do an evaluation appointment first. I know that I need my teeth cleaned because it's been over a year. I never had a cavity until two years ago when I looked in my mouth and thought, 'Hey, that looks odd.' I went to the dentist and, yes, I had a cavity. So, I think I know what one looks like.

The tooth whitening thing is going to be a nightmare. Half of one of my front teeth is fake. In the fourth grade when I was living in Omaha I was playing hide and seek during recess. Unfortunately, home base was the metal basketball pole with lots of little pebbles strewn around the bottom. You can guess what happened. I slid teeth-first right into home. Ouch! It hurts just thinking about it. Then a few years later I broke a little piece off the fake part biting down on one of those giant candycanes that you get at Christmas.

Over the years, coffee and cigarette binges have made it somewhat unsightly. I can't believe I'm even putting this in here. It's all a big plot to chip away at the beauty queen façade. Soon, I'll post pictures and then you'll know. Oh yes, you'll be painfully aware.

Crap! I just dripped a big gob of grape jelly on the edge of my keyboard and it's dripping onto the chair. So, on that note, I'll sign off for today.

P.S. Go check out my new featured link. (But come back...please?)
